Here we have a great! British Science Fiction film, from 1962, "The Day of The Triffids". Produced by Phillip Yordan and loosely based on the 1951 novel of the same name by John Wyndham, and released in the U.K by the "Rank Organization". It tells the story of a post-apocalyptic meteor shower that blinds most of the people in the world and the spores from the "shower" create a species of tall carnivorous plants known as "Triffids". Walking on their roots, the "Triffids" are able to communicate with each other and, possess a deadly whip-like poisonous sting that enables them to kill their victims and feed on their corpses.
