here we have another British-American B/W science fiction film directed by John Gilling, "The Gamma People". The film stars, Paul Douglas, Eva Bartok and, Leslie Phillips, and was distributed by Colombia Pictures. This film was released theatrically in the U.S. as a double feature  with the 1956 British science fiction film "1984". A train passenger car carrying a reporter and his photographer mysteriously breaks away from its locomotive, accidently ending up on a remote sidetrack in Gudavia, an isolated Ruritanian-style, one-village Eastern Bloc Dictatorship. The newsmen discover a mad scientist using "Gamma Rays" to turn the country's youth into either geniuses or subhumans, all at the bidding of an equally mad dictator. This is a pretty rare film, shot in Austria and not seen for over 45 years, with short distribution in theatres back in the 50's. Here is the complete Uncut Version of the film, starring Paul Douglas, Eva Bartok, and Leslie Phillips. 1956 B/W 78 Minutes on DVD-R.
